Engine Rebuild Cost 1965 Ford F100 240 cu

Hello,
Would anyone have a 'ball park' idea how much to rebuild the engine in my 1965 Ford F100 240 six cylinder three speed? Thanks.

$1500.00-2500.00 depending on how much you were willing to do. I might look at a 90s 300 to replace it with.

The 240 & 300 are the same base engine with different bore & stroke.

Is that with you pulling and installing engine or someone else doing the entire job?

Here in town a rebuild I can get done for 899.00 (300 6 cyl)
Friend owns a engine reman place. Most of the time he can do complete rebuild cheaper than I can buy parts and with small amt of machine work.

If you want a '66 300 6 cyl I have one I would sell dirt cheap. Pretty sure I have NOS valves etc too if they were needed. Engine ran great no issues but I removed it for a Big BLock engine swap. Just collecting dust right now. I tore it down to inspect and to clean everything up. Ready for machining, assy.

Crank would probably only need polishing. Its still standard.

Where are you located? It could be re-done and shipped to you pretty reasonable.

1966 Truck but was October 1965 build if I remember correctly.

Hey Boss9F100,
Thanks for the help. The odometer reads 64,000 miles. Everything works(lights, radio, manual choke, etc.). It's been repainted. It uses a little bit of oil. I have a small oil leak when I shut if off. Must be the oil pan gasket. I changed the water pump last year(first car show. In front of 200 cool car guys and my truck is billowing smoke! I looked like a goofball! Funny now.).

Deciding weather I want to restore the truck myself to be original as possible. I have all of the 1965 Ford truck shop manuals. Thanks for your help. Adios.

Depending on your budget you may be able to get away with a hone and new rings/bearings, oil pump if it has only 64k miles. Age takes a toll on parts nearly as much as miles, some times more if they sit alot.

Rings, bearings and a gasket set would be pretty cheap if you do it yourself. But once its torn down and you find the miles is not accurate and it needs bore and pistons, a cam shaft, valve job etc then it will cost a bunch more than a long block as I mentioned in my last post.

Good luck with it and post some pics of truck! Welcome to FTE.

The odometer starts over every 100,000, figure the years on the road and it's probably on the 3rd or 4th trip around.

Boss9F100 hasn't logged on here since 4/4/2016. Never know when he might show up again, though.
