Is it possible that this thread go to two pages when there was no question asked and all the responses are only initiated by the word "garage doors" in the subject line?
Two? Think again, man! We're never ones to shy away from a dogpile!
I've had garage doors off hinges, off track, off the ground, off the garage and one of those big sliding doors on a barn off the rollers - Don't ever recall having one off topic. Come to think of it I don't know how to get a garage door on a topic in the first place

I started this thread and I think it is clear I had no idea how to do get it on or off topic.
I put a 20 x 8' door on my 28' x 28' garage, the largest size residential code would allow without special hurricane wind resistance engineering sign off. My brother is currently putting up a 40' x 60' pole barn shop in NY with 2 10' x 10' roll up doors.
A friend of mine parents had a garage that I would have loved to have. It was a "L" shape, 8 car garage (4- double car) and a 30'x30' workshop in the corner... The problem was is I don't remember a car ever being in one of the garages... two of them had junk in it, another had their business equipment and supplies, the last had quads and dirt bikes, don't remember much about the shop except it had a lot of wood working tools... I remember working on his stereo in a couple of his vehicles in the driveway because of no room anywhere else...

I have a 40x30 shop. I have two very large rollup doors. I think my doors are each 16 foot wide, and I still wish they were bigger. I wish the entire side of my shop was just one big rollup door. Tell your brother he needs to get bigger doors.

Larger doors are too big a heat loss in Buffalo winters. it's supposed to be his race shop only, so larger doors would also increase chance of other uses.
