Hi, i am a brand new user to this web site so bear with me. I have a 1995 Ford F-150 5.0 L and it is constantly overheating on me. I have just recently bought a new aluminum radiator and replaced the fan& clutch, water pump and thermostat. Im kinda stuck now and i am not sure what is wrong with it. I drive on it for maybe 10-20 miles and then all the sudden the guage jumps and it starts to boil over(even melted my fan shroud it got soo hot . If anyone has any suggestions of what it might be or something i should try to fix the problem please help.
If you can get ahold of one of those infrared theremometers (the point and shoot kind) that can read temperatures of surfaces, you could shoot it at the block, or radiator, to get an idea of where the hotspots are.
You might have a blockage in the block passages somewhere?
Thermostat might be stuck (simple solution)
Waterpump might be faulty
check the fan to make sure it's pulling air and working correctly
do you still have the OEM shroud installed around the fan?
Is the new radiator the same as OEM?
You can try grabbing various hoses and checking for 'cool' spots where water might not be getting thru
but it could be other things.. the theremometer might help out if you can find one.. most shops have them.

Are you losing water? Have you recently changed or worked on the engine (right before the problem started) and if so what was done? Does the truck run fine other than this or do you have other symptons such as low torque, loss in fuel mileage, engine sputtering? Before you changed the radiator did you use STOPLEAK or similar additive? How do the hoses look? Are they swelled or crimped? Does the check engine light come on and if so, have you retrieved any codes?
