I'm replacing a engine- 2.9 in a bronco II and was reading a book preview that did not state all the info. It states that when replacing the engine to the tranny that you need to put "THE MARKED"CONVERTER TO FLEX PLATE BOLT at the bottom??? What is the writer referring to?? When is this supposed to be marked --before dissembly or??? I am changing out a complete different engine to the original tranny. Should the flex plate have a locating mark on it???
I'm cornfused!!!!
Some converters and flex plates have an offset bolt and hole that's not spaced the same as the others marking the location of any bolt and the converter makes it a lot easier to line everything up first time through.
If you don't mark it, you never know it's wrong till you rotate the engine, normally you make it to the third bolt before you find it's not lined up.
But if you're swapping the trans and converter, any marks may not be correct.....
