Rear axle xhaft fighting me all the way in

Does anybody have a tip to install back the axle shaft (it's the Dana 44 in my truck, instead of the usual 8.8)? it goes very well all the way up to the last inch, then it won't budge. I've tried turning and pushing without luck, I've used a hammer and it's done nothing, it seems like it turns the differential yet the splines don't match perfectly... It's making me crazy!!! .

Doesnt the dana 44 rear axle use "c" clips to retain axles? And how did you go about getting a jeep or IH rear end in a Bronco?

Remember, my truck was assembled in Venezuela, were Dana has a factory and made these for the F-150/Bronco of my gen. The Dana 44 uses a retainer plate, not C-clips. And stupid me, the axle was in place all along and I was beating and cursing on it like crazy... The stupid seal had slipped out.
