I'm putting a 460 c6 combo in a 84 f150. The truck two wheel drive and my frame has a crossmember stamped c4/srod, are these different crossmembers than one for a c6? And what will I need for the crossmrmber?
You can stick it all in there and see if the holes line up. If they don't, then you can drill new holes. Make sure to re-use the upper short crossmember braces, they keep the frame strength up. Drilling new holes in the upper part of the frame will be very difficult, but if you could just put the brace in and drill it for one of the holes already in the frame, that would be better than not using them at all.
Of course you can also go to the junkyard if you need to. When I did my c6/zf swap, i had a donor truck so I had everything there. The bottom crossmember was the same, but the uppers where offset differently and i had to use them.
I'm still not quite sure I follow tho, so they had to different crossmembers for these trucks? So the peices that bolt to the side of te frame stay in place it's just the off set of the bottom crossmrmber that's different ?
