Engine Noise

Has anyone had trouble with engine noise on start up of a morning? My 2013 6.2 F250 makes what sounds like a lifter picking sound on cold mornings. After it gets hot it goes away no sound. It started doing it about a week ago before the oil change (used Motor-craft oil and filter 5w-20). It gets noisier with the more throttle you give as you go down the road cold and when you stop at a red light you can hear it. 10500 miles on the truck.
Thanks

We ( my shop ) had one with the same complaint . The lube guy put in the wrong oil by accident . We had just switched tanks , he did not read the tank before pumping oil out . The tanks were not in the same order as before .

That should probably go back to the dealer. Some of us have a tick/knock/noise briefly at startup but have been told by dealers it's ok. My noise goes away after a second or so.

I do have ANOTHER noise, knocking at 2500+ rpm under slight acceleration. Need to get it into the dealer, factory warranty is up in 3 weeks...

I get a slight ticking noise when it's cold that goes away quickly.

But, I get a loud "whirring" noise coming from the fan/front of engine when I start up on a cold morning. It has to be down to +15 to +20 degrees or colder to hear it. But the whirring continues until the truck warms up. I admit it's kind of annoying to listen to.

Restarting it once it's warmed up, and you don't hear it at all.

It's done it since day one.

Slowpoke - Most likely the fan. I have the same thing. It hasn't been 100% confirmed, but it may be similar to what's in the thread below:

Thanks for the replies. I think I'd mentioned it once when I first got my new truck, but don't remember the reply.

I didn't think it was anything serious, as it's never gotten any worse, and it hasn't come up during dealer service.

It is annoying however, and a bit embarrassing when I start it up to leave work at the end of the day. People tend to stop and look/stare at it. I can't blame them for thinking something must be wrong with it.

You got it all wrong. They think you have a helicopter in disguise and are gawking and wondering if you are gonna pull pitch or not.

Well I got the truck in the shop on Monday and they called today and said the noise I was hearing was the injectors. I spoke with the tech that was working on it and he said he drove it hot and cold for 15 miles or so and done different test and that is what they have come up with. I then asked the service manger to have a different tech look at it tomorrow and see what they come up with. Has any else heard of this?

The injectors are noisy on these trucks, I had mine back immediately after I drove it off the lot and was told the same thing, just noisy injectors. I didn't believe them so I got a mechanics stethoscope out and sure enough, that's where the ticking came from.

Just dropped mine off at the dealer tonight to get the knocking looked at (along with a few other small ticket items). Worst of it was going back to stock (tuned). These trucks are so limited with the stock tune!!
