New U-Joints and Carrier Bering

So recently in the past month or so I've noticed a increasing vibration in what feels like my drive line. Normally around or between 40 to 55. My tires got 50k on them with good wear. Throwing new shoes on it soon but i don't think its the tires.

I did a carrier bearing and u-joints back in 07 or 08 probably 80k to 100k mi ago. The u-joints still feel tight to my knowledge but the carrier rubber has a decent amount of play up and down. So would y'all think its time based on time and mileage ?

If so whats a good carrier to get along with good u-joints ? If i can find someone here in town to balance my shaft i will probably have that done too.

Honetsly 100k isn't that much time on the u joints but it also depends on what kind of ujoints you used. I myself have always been a big fan of Spicer u joints and carrier bearings and have had good luck with them. Now on a F250 I don't know what series u joint it takes but for my F350 DRW it calls for 1410 series cap to cap 4.188 / cap size 1.188 and the Spicer Life 5-801x is a top of the line u joint. Solid Spicer Life OSR Style U-Joint - CCIDriveline.com

Also I think finding a shop to balance it is always a good idea. It takes alot of the guess work out of finding the problem. And it shouldn't cost $120 to $175 to have it balanced.

And if you wanted to get really trick this is a Bada$$ set up http://www.ccidriveline.com/ford/mon...t-upgrade.html

depending if the yoke ears that the u-joints press into are distorted will play a big part how long they will last, that can be checked after tapping yokes with hammer to alighn.after new ujoints are installed, they should free up,if not they will be short lived.

If you've lifted the truck since the carrier bearing and u-joint job, you might just need to shim down the carrier bearing. I've read elsewhere in here that the rule of thumb is something like a 1/8" shim per inch of lift installed.

Stinky has gone through volumes of variations of vibrations with his odo topping 280K. I'm slowly learning all the tricks to figure out the sources. If the vibration changes with acceleration or deceleration, that's one clue that can put the driveline on the suspect list. Quality parts on the driveline should last much longer that 100K.
