Drove my truck straight into a ditch!
Well I was doing what I love out with my dog pheasant hunting. When I was driving up a semi steep grade. All I could see was Blue sky and my white hood...then BAM! My passenger side tire fell into the cement ditch.
All the weight landed on my nerf bar and my front pumpkin.
The only visual damage I see is the cab is now dented from the nerf bar.
I have a Dieselsite ext Tranny filter. The buttom of the filter got dented which busted the the housing a little bit. No spilt fluid.
After pulling out my truck we jacked it up and checked my passenger tire by shaking it up and down. The tire felt like there was a 1/4" of play. Ball joints seemed good to me.
Shook the tire left and right and there was a substantial amount of play, worm Tie-rods maybe?
Any ways for what happened I really lucked out.
Is there anything I should look into?
I drove the truck another 200 miles home, with no issues no sounds nothing.
Heres the pic dont laugh too hard LOL! Wow seriously ruined my beautiful weekend, plus I didn't shoot any roosters.

It doesn't even look like it's THAT steep of a grade. I would think you would have been able to see that just from what I can see in the pic. Glad you didn't mess it up too bad. Vertical play is either ball joints or wheel bearings most likely. Jack it up and look closely at everything.
By the way, if you can grab a tie rod or drag link and move it around by hand, it or the ends are bad.

Lol it was steep enough, but there probably was a time when the ditch was visible but my eyes were looking at the big dirt ditch I was going to hunt.
It was a combination of bad timing and me not paying attention at the right times I really feel like a fool. This truck is my baby and I drove her right into a ditch.
