Harsh shift to second gear
MTNTOP i have a 96 thats doing the same thing. mine does it real often but put not all the time. I dont know what causing it. I have asked about it but no one has been able to tell me what is wrong. I have had the codes checked none found.I have the trans serviced every year maybe someone will be able to help with the problem

The problem most likely lies in the valve body. Its on the bottom of the tranny so you can clean it yourself of you can just take it to a shop and they'll clean it out for you.

I agree, could be a valve sticking the letting go all at once causing the hard shift. I like them shifting quick anf firm myself, but it shouldn't do this on an unmodified tranny.
