In my case I wasn't happy with the length of the rear cable. Since I have the tool above, I plan on just using some ferrules and taking about 2" out of it. I got the tool to make some custom tailgate cables so I'll use it for that. This is one of those, "How the heck did I live without it!!" tools. I retrospect I coulda used it to make up a front cable. I went with the repair kit. It's available @ LMC too, but you can find a better price elsewhere.

Does lmc have the handle and the rod it attaches to as well? I literaly need everything down to the paint where the cable attaches to the double cable under the bed.
Sounds like you need to hit the salvage yards. If you're not going for a "concours" restoration, a bit of creative cheating may be in order to adapt something from a different vehicle. Maybe keep an eye open @ Evilbay as well

Hmm not a bad idea. My other thought was getting one from a 70's ford the pedal style. Easy to find, easy to put on and off. But I like the classic pull handle.lol

Look at the parts catalog pic: The pawl (2786), curly-Q spring (2788), pin (2859) were also available individually. The clip (2814) and front cable (2853) was only available by themselves.
All these parts are obsolete, but probably can be found NOS

Thanks for the redirect to the CD. I had been watching a couple eBay auctions for the hard copies, but at well over $100, that did not appeal to me as much as the CD. Ordered tonite - looking forward to getting it - thanks again...
