It should be. The head of the rescue recieved a phone call from an older gentleman Wednesday night where he stated that his basset hound passed away a week ago. She noticed that he called her again yesterday so she returned the call. The guy said that he was sitting in the parking lot of Lowes. He was to buy some Xmas lights because his wife wanted him to hang them while the weather was good. He inidcated that he was crying in the car, and could not go in. HE said that Christmas won't be the same without Henry. She asked him to meet him at the place where the adoption event will be on Saturday so that he could play with the bassests. He did and as they were leaving, the guy said I will see you at 1 on Saturday, and please put a hold on Lucky for me. She is the lemon (white and beige) that his left ahnd is on, and is one of the pups that came in from Cali. Does the guy look like Santa Claus???

Yeah they are. They can come into rescue from local shelters that have been owner surrenders due to death of family, moving, financial, strays, puppy mills etc.
We just had one that came into our group a couple of weeks ago. Owner took their 14 week old pup to the emergency vet after it should signs of distress after the pup ingested rat poison. This person was looking at a $2-4K vet bill to try and save the pup so they decieded to have her put down. A vet tech contacted the rescue and we took ownership of the pup and agreed to cover the vet bill. The pup received two blood tranfusions and meds & was released from the vet after 3 days. The pup is doing great and is in foster care to complete her recovery. BTW, she has already been adopted and her name is Hope.
