If you want to "dump coal" go buy a dodge, they come with a free flat-billed hat.

As far as tunes, congratulations, you are the one millionth poster to ask that question!

Man guys that was a little harsh.......

If you want an increase in "gas mileage" buy a prius. If you want an increase in fuel mileage don't tune it! Tuning a truck does not improve your mileage... It improves the drive ability of a 7-8k pound truck. You can't add fuel to "roal coal" and expect better mileage. All that black stuff is is unburnt fuel due to inefficient air flow.

Now.... Click on the link tom posted and you'll find everything you're asking for. Good luck

If you have an auto trans, I would stay away from Edge. Other than that, there are too many good ones out there. Here is a link to a couple of the better ones.
Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: - Tuners/Power Adders
Also look at our signatures to see what the rest of us are running. Good tunes will improve economy by slightly changing timing and transmission shift strategies. With any tunes, you will want to do some supporting mods like intake, exhaust, and gauges with the later considered a must.

There have been a lot of trans failures on trucks running Edge products over the years.

Which device? "Edge products" is a very vague statement.

Have you experienced this?

Why is said Edge product blamed for the failures?

I'm only curious as to why people think this rumor to be true.

Everyone around me running an Edge programmer toasted their trannys. Mine is still going at 188k miles.
The local diesel shop here likes Edge stuff. They told me about a lot of trans failures.

The only programmer that won't mess up your vehicle is prudent use of your right foot. Even then, it's just a matter of time and miles.

Adding power takes its toll on any vehicle.

Just my opinion here.

SCT Pros
price
reads trouble codes

Cons
only 3 tunes
can't change tunes on the fly. You must shut the truck down and reprogram to change tunes.

I personally would go with one of these;
Total Diesel Performance Chip The one I run.
Riffraff Diesel: 7.3L 6-Position Chip with tunes - STOCK SETUP
Riffraff Diesel: DP Tuner F5 Chip Module
Pro are, you can pick the tunes you want to fit your purposes. You can have more tunes. You can switch tunes on the fly.
Cons, they will not read trouble codes.

If you have looked at Banks, don't. You will get bigger bang for the buck with almost anything else. Banks does have quality exhaust, intakes, and intercoolers however. Even at that their intercooler is the only thing they offer for our trucks that I would consider. Again this is just my opinion.

The message was correct, the delivery just left a little to be desired. (I did get a chuckle out of the first line though... )
I searched and searched until the fiancé practically stole the iPad from my hands. There's a wealthy heap of information between all the forums. Sift through it and you're bound to form your own opinion. I'm very pleased with my F6 from DP Tuner.
