351w hp and trq guess?

So I know I will get flamed for this question. i have accepted that at this point but I cant seem to find a good answer online. I have my 96 351w that has been rebuilt. it is bored .30 over with 9.5:1 compression. it has a 270 276 cam in it with 480/480 lift. @ 50 duration is 214/220 with 1:12 lobe separation... obviously a high torque RV style cam. I am running the stock heads and intake with Mass air but I do have equal length long tube headers on it with full exhaust.

Anybody ever seen a dyno sheet on a mild build like this? what kind of numbers should I get from it? by my calculations I was thinking about 290hp and 400 Ft/lbs of torque. does that seem about right? thanks,

I don't think 290hp/400tq is gonna happen with stock E7 heads. I would guess more around 250-275hp/~350tq. Those are at the crank as well, not the wheels.

I have been playing with that desktop dyno program quiet a lot lately. Who knows how accurate it is, but I set up a 351, .030 over with 9.72:1 compression, GT40 heads, a Comp Cam #35-351-8 which has about the same duration as you listed but 114* LSA and .512" lift for intake and exhaust. It showed ~320hp/~455tq. I'm not sure how realistic that is but I think it might be the setup I try if it will actually work.

I can run your setup through it when I get home if you can find out what cam you have.

Bout 260/270hp and 350 tq at the crank...

And Evan, the desktop dyno programs are typically pretty accurate.

i would agree with Evan_P on the HP and torque numbers. You may get closer to what you were thinking if you maybe went for an intake upgrade and possibly a higher ratio on your rockers. Not to try to hijack a thread but Evan_p what is the dyno program you are using? is it basically a simulator to give you an idea what your power should be with given platform and mods? i have been looking for something like that for a little while and haven't really came across much.

Look up Desktop Dyno. I'm running the 2000 version as I got it for free, but there is a newer, more up-to date version. Basically you put in the specs of the engine, heads and cam and It can give you an estimate of what kind of power it will make. I still don't know how to use it fully, but I am gonna keep playing with it.

The stock intake is a big restriction on this motor so 250hp is about all it's gonna make, and it's not gonna generate great low rpm torque either.. too much cam duration, so overall this engine is a bit mismatched at the moment.

Would you happen to know approximately what the flow rate is for the stock 5.8 truck intake?

Little bit of a hijack here, but what do you think of the Comp Cams 35-308-8 Conanski?

It flows a little better than the stock 5.0HO intake which makes it the second worst intake Ford ever produced, I don't have any flow data but it's restrictive with E7 heads which flow about 150cfm max.

so I will keep an eye out for a new intake. what should I be looking for with this set up? what would be the gains assuming i keep the stock e7 heads?

Stock E7 heads are close behind in the intake at being a bottleneck so the most you'll see with a better intake is 275-280hp, with a Typhoon or Performer intake and GT40 or Performer heads the motor would make 300-325hp, go to a better head like a TFS 170 or AFR 185 and you would be in the 375-400hp territory.
