My F26D (get the F26E) came with longer bolts and spacer tubes for each bolt. Mine did not have straps on the bottom side of the tank but does on the top side. Yes basically it will fall off the truck when I undid the skid plate. I used single hand operation bar clamps to aid in holding up/ lowering the skid plates and tank as I did this by myself.
My spare fits under there no problem and I have not touched with it yet, mind you my red sig truck is a bit higher then a stock truck by guessing 4"? I did notice with the 38 gallon tank, 600lbs ATV and 50 gallon auxiliary plus stock front, it did squat down too much for me. I then installed firestone air bags and this works wicked.

Unless you mean straps on top and skid plate under, which they all have.
With the 38 gallon tank, we cut pieces of small dia. gas pipe and used longer bolts to drop the skid plate down (which holds up the tank), then used more pieces of pipe to extend the spare tire hangers. Looks totally stock.

If it's worth looking into for you, the front tank can be modified to a bigger tank, too. I have a Super Duty tank on mine, which almost doubles the capacity, and the sending unit wires right in to the truck. It hangs down kind of low, but no lower than the rear axle.
