This weekend I put the engine back in the truck.

Then started to add all the top and accessories including new EGR tube and vacuum hoses.

Then I did the smog pump eliminator kit.

And with everything buttoned up. Spent a lot of time repairing the dipstick tube and all the metal brackets that attached to the manifolds as they all were rotted off.

Do you have a part number or specifics on the smog pump eliminator?

The smog pump eliminator was stock on either 95+ or 96+ trucks and vans. Somehow ford got around to programming their trucks better and didn't need it, or regulations changed. I have a few engines up home that have them.
Should be an easy junkyard find.

I used a Proform 68110 piece from JEGS. It was $55 and is for a Mustang. I also had to change the pulley from the Mustang pulley (smaller dia.) to a 5.8L AC idler pulley. I made another thread about the how thing yesterday with more pictures and details. It's titled "5.8L SMog Delete with Pics."

Used Herculiner to coat the cab floor. I'm just going to run this with some floor mats, no vinyl factory floor to hold in moisture.

Here is how I replaced my rotted out original core support with a combination of the center of a '91 support and the ends of a '94 support. Here are the two side by side.

After careful measuring I cut what I needed off the '94 support. You can see how much wider the '87-'91 support is at the fender attachment.

Committed now!

Converted to '92-'97 style.

Checked the fenders and everything lines up as it should.

A little paint and undercoating.

Going back together nicely.

That is an amazing amount of work, but the progress is impressive. They say rust never sleeps, but it seems that neither do you. Good luck with the project.

It's been tons of work. I literally have hundreds of hours in flatbed fabrication, rust repair, motor repair, parts sourcing, over the last 4 months and nearly $3000 in parts and materials. If this was my only project it wouldn't be a big deal, but I have 9 other vehicles to maintain, 7 of them are classics that all need work. If I had known that this truck was going to turn into this much of an ordeal I probably wouldn't have started it, but once I was in so deep I had to keep going. This truck will probably only get used 2000 miles a year, but it should last quite a while now!

Good luck with the Herculiner. All it is , is paint with grit in it.

Updates? A lot this weekend. First off I got the door jams and cab corners painted.

Then I was able to hang the passenger door.

And regap the fender to the door.

The door I used came off a truck with the smaller mirror so I had to mount and drill the door for the swing away mirror.

Seats! This truck came with a roached bench seat. I wanted the 40/20/40 buckets and found these.

But, in order to mount them you need this. Luckily, I found the seats and pan on an old Craigslist ad and the guy still had them. I paid $200, but the reg cab pan is hard to find and the seats are in good shape and the right color so I guess that's not too bad.

Here's how they go together.

And I also remounted the 4WD shifter boot.
