And the bad news continues

Merry Christmas........
Joe if you want to try the flat v8 I have here out of a 51 f5 I will give it to you.
I'm a long way from you up here in Akron Ohio but I'm sure we can figure something out
It is locked up but still in the truck, let me know "tis the season" and I just want to spread some cheer.

Yea, I've had more than 5 of those in the past two days alone.
And I also love the "motor in excellent condition" then they tell me that they don't know if it runs, or it is stuck, or the world famous, "It ran when it was parked....... 30 years ago".

Well it's been a long (and no so good) winter. Right around Christmas Josh Madsen hooked me up with an engine builder friend of his and I made a deal on a rebuilt Flathead. It was shipped out just after new years and arrived at me neighbors shop about the 2nd week of Jan. Unfortunately we have a had a rather bad spell here. My wife's sister wound up in the hospital in SC and we had to spend a few weeks back and forth there to help her out. After that it was like we all took turns with health issues between myself, Patti and Patti's daughter, coupled with probably the coldest, snowiest and wettest winter since I moved to TN.
Any how, today I finally made it to the neighbors today and we hauled the 'New to me' flathead home.
I went out to the barn and started sorting through all the parts that were returned by the shop that did not do the rebuild which were thrown together in several boxes. It turns out that he failed to actually return any of the nuts and bolts. So I spent the afternoon with the parts book getting all the sizes and thread counts on everything and compiled a list. He had included several gaskets but not all so I had to hunt those down, finally ordering them from Denis Carpenter.
Here is what I saw when I opened the crate....

I thought about calling the shop, but I think I'd rather pay a few bucks for all new rather than driving over 200 miles and then sorting out and cleaning all the old stuff.
BTW, is the head torq sequence in the shop manual? I know that you can do it in your sleep.

Sad but true!

Well, after months of setbacks related to health issues of mine and other family members I finally got some time to get back in the shop and get the new motor installed in Edith.
About noon yesterday we got her fired up and rolled her out of the shop. After some final checks she made the maiden voyage with the new power plant around the neighborhood. I must ay that I never thought the oil pressure gauge was capable of getting above 30 lbs, but I stood corrected when it was reading almost 50 lbs.
