Truck won't start and bad fuel problems... help!
Recently, my 1996 F250 7.3 Diesel died on the road about a mile after switching the fuel tanks. It appeared to work fine before then.
Here is what I know:
- Front fuel tank has bad fuel (smells like paint thinner)
- Rear fuel tank has good fuel
- Truck won't start when I have the rear fuel tank selected
- Truck will start when I have the front fuel tank selected, but die after 5 minutes (if it has clean fuel from the rear tank)
What I have done:
- Replaced fuel filter already.
- Put some diesel stabilizer and some biocide in the tanks.
What should I do:
- Should drop the fuel tanks and empty them?
- Replace fuel lines?
- Check/replace rear fuel tank sending unit (does it have a pump?)?
- Any other advice?
What I don't know:
- Why did the rear tank stop working all of a sudden at the same time (diesel stabilizer?)?
Any help would be appreciated as this truck and platform are still pretty new to me!
