fuel gauge problems
I am tired of my fuel gauge being off
how much fuel is in your tank when the guage reads 1/4 tank? when I get to 1/3 tank I only have 4-5 gallons left.
I read somewhere the guage should read between 15 and 165 ohms is that correct
02 shortbed, hutch and harpoon mods. truck ran out of fuel with the guage at 1/4 tank, and took 34.7 gallons to fill.
when I did the hutch mod I just let the fuel return dump rather than route it away like guzzle suggested. I don't know if this is causing it to float up or something, grasping at straws here
oh the rubber foot/pickup is new and I put the metal tubing past the bypass thingy so its not sucking through that.

Seems like your arm mitt be bent or something. It mitt of got hung up on the way out or when putting it back in and bent the rod. Some guys do put them in without the return facing away and have know problems, but I would of spent the money and made a tube to push it away. You mitt just have to drop the tank to take a look. I know that's not the answer your looking for.

I would think the sending unit would be the culprit. Perhaps the wiring connection is dirty? For whatever reason they don't seem to last long.
When I installed my new unit I actually cut the pickup tube down about 1/4 to 1/2" to keep it from rubbing the bottom of the tank after i went through 2 of them. I guess the tank and pump variences sometimes get real close. As for routing it away from the pickup tube I did not do that and have no issues.
