Ford certainly had issues in the past with the switches but that problem seems to be less common with the 04 plus body styles. The section from my service manual lists a variety of possible sources, other than the switch. Tractorfan, see the PM I sent you and I'll hook you up with a copy. Hopefully you'll find the cause. If your dealer is just spraying the switch, they're not following anything in the manual.

Update: I made an appointment to have it looked at last week. The door ajar message never showed up. They took my word for it and ordered a new latch. I took it in this morning and had it replaced under warranty. I was in the waiting room when the service manager called me over. He went over what was done and handed me the keys. I went out started the truck and now have a "service advancetrac" on the message display. I left the truck running and went back inside. The service manager insisted they had nothing to do with the advance trac warning. But sent out the shop foreman to have a look. Before getting in he said "who ever backed it out of the shop probably spun the tires (as it was snowing) which would cause the message". I argued that slippery conditions shouldn't cause a service message. He jumped in pulled ahead and the message went away. Told me it would be fine and that if it came back to bring it in again, and they would scan for codes. I left an went in search of a fuel station when the advance trac message came on for a few minutes again, then went out. Then I heard another chime, now my driver door adjar warning is back on. Went back to dealer, they were able to take it back in with no waiting. After an hour or so, the service manager called me over to tell me that they could find nothing wrong. No messages or codes. But did tell me they were going to contact ford and speak to an engineer about the issue. The problem for me is that I'm now over my bumper to bumper warranty by about 100kms. I hope this truck doesn't send me to the poor house, but it's looking that way.

Well the dealer called tonight. They want the truck tomorrow for the day. The engineer has given them some ideas on what to try. Also mentioned something about a tsb. Hopefully they get it fixed.

Hi Tractorfan,

It is great to know that your dealer has been helping you. Have you been able to take the vehicle to your dealer as planned? If so, please share the status of service including year and current odometer reading. I will see what I can do.

Hi Kwasi, yes I had it in last Friday. They told me that Ford was aware of the advancetrac issue, and applied a tsb. They also had another look at the door latch. But I'm not sure what they found. They asked me to run it over the weekend to see if anything was still acting up. But it has snowed all weekend, so I never got to try it out. Hopefully will get a chance this week. It's a 2011 with just over 60,000kms on it.
