Way off topic, need advise from my Brothers
Im just a little pissed at Hyundai.
My girlfriends Hyundai motor seized yesterday. it has 70K and 8 years on a 100K /10 year warranty. I believe the oil pump went bad as she said the oil light came on,loss of power and a loud squealing noise just before she pulled over. it was running when she shut if off. it is full of oil
I removed the starter, plugs and belts to see if anything was binding it up but No.. i put a socket on the crank and it's froze.
I called the Hyundai dealer and their saying if i cant produce service records the will not do anything..
I have always changed the oil my self.
anyone have any other advise to use for the Hyundai dealer to get them to stand behind their warranty ?
Thanks Phil
Sorry Mod's for the off topic..

Being on the service side of the industry , not a dealer tech , I have seen this before . I have seen cars towed in with 30k and seized engines , factory oil filter , low oil . My shop keeps records on file for all our customers . I remember a few that needed our records to satisfy factory warranty . All you need are dated recipts for your oil and filter purchase , and a bit of legal advice ...

If you did your own oil changes and didn't keep any records this is going to be a hard fight. I always did my own oil changes, too. I recorded the date and mileage for each one until the warranty ran out. I never had to use the warranty, but it would have been very good ammo if I did.
Did you change the timing belt? I believe Hyundai requires a change at 60k. If you didn't do that and it broke that will lock up the engine. Hyundai will tell you to go away on that one, too. When I had a shop one was towed in with the same symptoms you have. It was at 90k on the original timing belt. It only took $2600 to get the head rebuilt.

I can't help you with your issue, but, we have a 2002 Sonata with 105k miles and never a problem. Of course, we did the timing belt, brakes, etc. I'd like to get rid of it, but, it just works too well and it's not worth anything on the market and moneys getting tighter as time goes on....
