2008 f-250 pouring white smoke

I have a 2008 all stock 6.4 F-250. It started pouring white smoke yesterday. It goes into regen a lot. It is not missing and no coolant loss. The smoke kind of smells like oil. Could it be a turbo seal leak? Oh and when it goes into regen the smoke is very, very bad then.

Oh one more thing does not seem to be any power loss.

White smoke usually means water in the exhaust stream but there should be some coolant loss also. oil smoke is darker and stinky. Have you had the codes read, most any parts store will do that for free. Somebody will be by with more info. Hope it's not real bad news.

Fuel can make white smoke if it isn't burned good

there are no codes. The engine runs fine just a lot and I mean a lot of smoke.

Well obviously there IS a power loss then.
Maybe the turbo is leaking oil, it's happened before to someone.

There should be codes I'd think.

Mine belches white smoke during regen pretty predictably on colder days as things are being heated up, but then it clears up after about a minute. It's pretty vile smelling stuff and cuts through the bone. Been to the dealer 3 different occasions and they say smoke is perfectly normal.

Boost is zeroed when possible during regen. EGR is also disabled.

Sounds like a bad turbo to me. That is exactly what mine did. The smoke was so thick that it looked white. I actually had people pulling over because they could not see. Stop running the truck. NOW! You are filling your inter cooler with oil. It is possible that when it gets too full with oil it will go into a run away condition, and you will not like the result of that. Pull the rubber tube off the front of the low pressure turbo and see if there is oil there. If it is the turbo I can give you pointers on how to replace it. I just did mine this weekend.

Well took it to the dealer and yep; it's the turbo Exhaust is full of oil. tek said turbo seal gone and I need a new turbo. the one good thing is that I was told the warranty will cover the cost of the repair, but the not the diagnosis.

Trust me, I would gladly pay for the diagnosis and let the replacement be under warranty. I wish I had been so lucky. I missed the Ford warranty by 14 months and my 6 month warranty from my dealer by 2 months....

On another note, have them check the DPF and CAT to make sure they are not full of oil. If they are (like mine are) and you drive it, you will burn another turbo. Don't forget the inter cooler. When my seal went out, I got about 3 gallons out of my inter cooler after a 250 drive home blowing smoke and buying oil by the gallon.

My f-350 also blows white smoke, not constant. It will blow for a few minutes 3 or 4.But as it clears up the smoke will go to a bluish color then stops. Is this how your turbo problems started?
