stuck on a 360 to 300 swap

I'm swapping out the blown 360 from my 1970 f100 with an 85 300. did some research, and changed out my bell housing. everything I looked up said the original frame mounts would work, just needed to be slid forward. I dropped the motor, and this is how it's sitting. anyone know any other mounts that will work? that angle seems pretty steep to let go.

The pictures don't look all that bad(the links are not right, but I opened them in another window) . Do you have an angle finder? A few degrees down to the back is not bad.

There are 3 sets of frame towers for these trucks. 1 set is for the big block, 1 set is for the small block, and one set is for the six. You'll need to find the set for the six or you're going to be looking at problems with radiator - fan clearance and drive shaft length, and trans mount location.

it sits fine on the 360 mounts I have now....all we did was slid them forward to compensate for the transmission. the transmission wash never taken out during the swap. we married the motor to the tranny, then placed the mounts accordingly. the problem I'm having is I think they are too tall. the front of the motor comes up quite a bit. I will try and post pictures.

The FE V8 and inline 6 Frame perches/towers are the same.

Did you change motor mounts? Try picking up a pair of new motor mounts for a 1970 F100 with a 300.

I checked on Rockauto.com and the motor mounts listed for a 1970 are a different part # then the ones for a 85.

I'd replace the motor mounts and then see how it sits.

you need to change the towers to the six cyl towers and get mounts for a 70 model 300 to correct the angle don't ask how I know but that's the only way your not going to have any problems with clearances
