Getting ready to do a bunch of work on my 7.3 Excursion

I need to have the engine pulled to replace the oil pan and it will be a good time to do other things - up pipes, rear diff and head studs are on my list. I am considering a few local shops and maybe one dealership. Any thoughts on shops or dealers in SA? I am surprised that the dealers seem to be comparably priced to the independent shops I have spoke too. Seems strange. Thanks in advance.

Too bad you didn't make it to the STTD #3 this past weekend. I know of another individual or two that were here that could have helped you pull the engine Friday night/Saturday morning and help you with that and have you probably rolling out of here late Sunday night back home with everything back in place. It would have taken a concerted effort, but the team was in place.

Good luck, don't know many places up in SA.

That would have been nice! However, not sure you guys would have been too excited with a newbie requesting help on a project of that magnitude. Plus, my skills are nonexistent.

Are the benefits of ceramic up-pipes heat retention? Would you suggest I go that route?

Sorry for Delay in Response. I did the Ceramic and I love them. Not so much for heat issues as not showing the rust so fast. They look like the day I put them on in January.
