Anyone ever replace REAR Axle shaft 9.75 ? ABS Ring question

the factory rear axle shaft ABS ring is all metal

the FORD replacement rear axle shaft with ABS ring has plastic around the teeth. Is the plastic supposed to be removed ?

okay i got it figured out - the ABS system uses magnetic sensors that read the metal ring with teeth . this type of system can read the teeth through the plastic so it doesn't need to be removed. the plastic is there to reduce dirt build up in the teeth .

never mind - i got it figured out.

the plastic stays the speed sensor is magnetic and reads the teeth through the plastic . the plastic is there to keep the dirt out of the teeth.

by the way the CPU converts the magnetic reading from the speed sensor into volts then makes the adjustments to the various systems .
