Issues with my 59 passenger door not closing correctly.
I am having issues with my 1959 not closing correctly. My passenger does not close properly half of the time. You can just close it but it does not stay closed. I got a door latch and the new one is doing the same. Do these latches need any adjustments?
Any ideas on what is happening?
Thanks

Hmm is there a little spring in the part that goes on the cab? I believe there is a spring that helps keep the pin in the toothed part that's on the door. id check that first. I can go look at mine tomorrow if need be

Look at the pic, notice the 22058 shim. Is it present or not? The parts catalog says AR = As Required, so you may need more than one to get the striker aligned properly.
Notice the 22040 insert has teeth, they wear down, so when this occurs, the wheel on the door latch won't catch properly.
Where's the spring? No see um. If there is one, it will be made as part of the striker plate, so it cannot be replaced.
1961/66 uses a different striker that has a nylon insert w/a coil spring behind it. Neither the nylon insert nor the spring can be replaced, as they're made as part of the striker.
And ya have adjusted the striker and like that and it don't seem to help?
Then ya you should prolly look into one of the fail safe aftermarket assembly's.

Don't want the little woman falling out.
Than maybe ya do. IDK.
Would you know of a vendor, or are your referring to chopping out the old and weld in the new type of setup?
I bet that chebby's got the same red neck door handle as I do.
Actually I'm pretty sure a few of you guys have come across my vice grip solution sometime in your past.
