Maybe they should run them through a ring surrounded by a bunch of pot bellied 70 year old bald guys with girlfriends younger than their granddaughter hanging around their necks getting all excited watching the bidding going up.

So, As to Stu's comment back towards the beginning of this thread, I had been talking with Stu about a MH truck that he knew of or found on one of his many road trips West, and after much hemming and hawing (on my end) and probably a few hundred text msgs and emails back and forth with Stu and finally getting in contact with the current owner. I set out to go see if I could make this truck mine!
I envited a friend along for the ride and had also scouted out a few places via google earth that looked promising for old iron for the return trip. was just under 1200 miles in two days with stops to investigate yards. (basically a loop around Yellowstone) from Salt Lake, through Idaho to Montana, and back through Wyoming. we missed a few yards also because we ran out of time and with the sun setting at 5:00 pm really didn't help much.
went through a little bit of snow going but nothing bad, and some ice in morning on return. almost hit two coyotes on return as they were crossing the highway in rural Wyo.
unfortunately most of the yards we found were "collectors" who wouldn't have sold us a lugnut, one guy went so far as to say he was saving everything for his grandkids! well I guess to each there own?
I did end up with a set of 5 lug 19.5"'s and a set of 8 lug 17.5" wheels, a stainless windshield trim, dome light, bud wrench. one yard was about 20 acres of mostly tractors and old farm equipment, dodge military, trucks, but did have a few older ford trucks.
Anyway. trip was uneventful but had a good time and I now am a proud owner of a 51 F-3 MH Thanks to Stu.
the body is not that great but I've got plenty of parts to fix that.
I unloaded the truck and put a better hood on it, looks better already!
I'll just post up a few pictures and let them tell the rest.

I have never seen Flathead "OBAS" heads before! anyone know about these? Also the Generator on it is Huge!
Unfortunately the 51 Marmon Herrington is pretty much gone. the drivetrain is gone with exception of the engine. the badges is about all that remains of the MH ? someone did a nice job at some point in time clearancing the lower front fender though.

That's a new one on me, too. 0BA (and 1BA) parts are common enough (blocks, valve rotators, etc) but I've never seen 0BA heads, and the "S" designation is a real strange one. Strange that it had that big gen in an F-1, I have to wonder if they transplanted it from a bigger truck?

WOW! Best **** ever! And I've been sharing the pictures with my wife who's sitting next to me on the couch. She loves that wild west background. And that MH is absolutely awesome. So glad you didn't photobucket your pics. I never look at those. Sounds like it might be confusing or hard to do. Any more????? We envy your late fall trip. We didn't get one this year....
