F250 purchase advice pls
Am seeking some advice on a potential purchase if possible. Would first like to say that I have been reading this forum for a while and have learned loads from all of you, so thank you! Have been looking for some weeks at 2004-2007s F250s and have driven several but all had some issues. Drove a 2005 F250 Lariat FX4 today, at used dealership, 128K miles, engine professionally cleaned so hard to tell by looking exactly what issues there might be, but coolant in degas bottle was clean and clear, steering linkage seemed tight at speeds up to 65mph, and both a cold and hot start were fine. OASIS report showed that engine had cooling problems at 65K and Ford dealer replaced EGR valve and oil cooler under warranty in 7/2009 (I'm not sure what parts went in), nothing noted about head gasket or head bolts, brakes done at 120K, no sign of mods but I'm not experienced enough to know what to look for if something had been removed. Nothing else major jumped out from the OASIS report. I have not put a scangauage on it. Dealer wants $17K. Miles are not bad but I worry some on used when I look at anything over 100K. I would use the rig mostly for highway miles and some hauling and a little towing. Any thoughts? Should I keep looking for that 2006 or 2007 that I have not yet found? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice!

I personally would not purchase a used Ford 6.0 diesel without assuming it needs or will need at least $2500 in motor work now or in the near future. I have come to believe no one sells a 6.0 until it has a motor issue. Just my opinion based on experience.

Welcome to FTE pavement ends, I to is new here and I purchase a 06 F-250 with 6.0 motor. This truck has 91514 miles on it and no issues at this moment. I took it to my local ford dealer and had a oasis pulled and found no warrenity or no problems. Now yes I figure pay me now or later, I have a credit card only for this truck, just in case....Just do your home work and read these forum and to know there is some experience people with a lot of knowledge.
