Smoke is more likely rings than seals. Your oil control rings may be seized. Try a SeaFoam soak. You pull the plugs, put a couple of ounces in each cylinder, let it sit overnight. The next day, rotate the engine by hand (not starter) and repeat. On the 3rd day, with the plugs still out, hit the starter for a few revolutions to allow any SeaFoam still in the cylinders to escape out the plug holes. Put in the plugs, and start it up. If you thought it smoked before, it is nothing compared to what will come out as it burns off the SeaFoam. But it will quickly clear up, and hopefully the rings will be freed up.

Hey EC,
If you join the site ($20 I believe) you can then post pics directly from your hard drive - Very easy.. There also are ways to post them to flicker, photobucket etc. & then link to them but it's more involved.

Good going over there on getting the title.

+1 on Seafoam. I put 610 miles on a Dodge Power Wagon this October. It had sat in a basement (!) for thirty years and my brother used Seafoam to loosen it up. Now it doesn't even smoke.
