Trim ring for full time 4x4 shifter

The 1975 F250 I purchased does not have a trim ring on the floor hump around the full time 4x4 shifter; looks like the boot goes directly into the carpet.

Should it have a trim ring?
Pics appreciated so I know what I'm looking for.
Thanks

It should be boot 1st, then the carpet, then the trim ring. Because the trim ring mounts with these bent tabs that just clamp on the carpet edge.

Same for the floor mat.

So....the boot does NOT go on top, if it does you get no way to mount the rings.

Pics tell the tale, and the PO of my blue truck with the black carpet, was a IDIOT.

See part # 13100 on top of the floor mat or carpet.
