EGR "to be or not to be"

EGR "to be or not to be"
I'm new here and to my 1994 f-150 I6, and love both and both run great. I've done a lot of reading and learning here. Since then I have learned and observed that the smog pump and stuff have been deleted from my truck--and a decent job they did too from the looks of it. It also appears that both cats have been cut away and replaced with a Y and flowmaster. So my question is. Is my EGR doing anything? Is it necessary? Will I gain anything by taking it off. I really don't want to if it's of no improvement value.

-The EGR flow can be reduced or disabled in such a way that is does not throw a code. No code does not mean a functioning EGR.
-The existence or non-existence of the converter or air pump has very little bearing on the EGR.
-The EGR allows the ECM to advance the timing at low load to save fuel. If it is functioning it is of "improvement value" as you say.
