Hi all,

I need to replace the clutch/brake pedal assembly on my 1988 F450 Super Duty. Can anyone provide the Ford part number for this? I called the local dealer and it is no longer in his part books. Thanks

 

It's in my parts book, so it's in his too. But what he didn't tell you, because he didn't want to bother and just "shined you on" is...

Ford did not sell all the parts as one assembly, as you can see. All the parts were sold individually. There are two additional pics, but this one is the most important.

These are basic part numbers only, select what you need, I'll give you the complete part numbers and see if anyone has them.

 

Thanks Bill, that helps a lot. Reason why I am replacing this is because the clutch pedal throw has been altered by wear. This means the clutch drags and overheats with the pedal depressed. A common problem I have been told. Not sure if it is the pedal or support bracket that wears. Or maybe just bushings? Do you know? Thanks.

There are 4 nylon bushings for the brake/clutch pedal shafts, see 2471 in pic.

You could replace these and see if there's an improvement. They're probably well worn, may have cracked apart.

I ordered F3TZ-2455-A for my '97 F350. It's a complete assembly...both pedals, bushings, clutch arm (shipped loose). I don't know if this will work on your '88. I also ordered the Heim joint connector. I am tired of jacking around with that clutch arm bushing and cross-shaft bushings. I'm dreading the installation, but when done, it will be DONE.

 

Okay, so today I crawled under the dash board and looked more closely at the pedals and linkage. Surprisingly the pedals seemed pretty tight although I am sure adding new bushings there would be a wise idea. The slop in the clutch linkage seems to be isolated to the plunger that the clutch pedal activates through a shaft, lever and pin arrangement. The plunger inserts into the clutch master cylinder and has an "eye" in the end which slips over the lever pin. The eye also has a plastic bushing in it and that seems where the extra play is coming from.

So.... I would like to replace the plunger and bushing. Any part numbers for that?
