Headlight relay mod-Who's done it?

Yes it's worth it. My headlights are just as bright as a modern trucks, with the relays and sealed silver star halogens.

The biggest thing I liked about mine was that I wired the high beams so that the low beams came on with them; Seemed to be a much more reasonable light output.
A few suggestions: Head to the junk yard or supply store and get actual AUTOMOTIVE grade relays. They have snubbers built into them, look right and are weatherproof(ish).
Also...if you have ANY questions, post the writeup youre using. Someone in another forum posted one that had the wiring all kinda wonkey, like having the input on the relay going to the charge stud on the alternator.
Anyhow, good luck with it!

I did this as well. I priced out new relays and found their kit was cheaper than building it myself.

Btw, Delcity.net and Waytekwire.com are excellent vendors to get electrical supplies.

It's a good "bang for the buck" improvement.
Probably the best $30 upgrade I've ever done to my truck ($32 now)

Best upgrade I ever did, even with stock headlamps they are easily twice as bright. I built my own harness using the following socket and relays.
DUAL SOCKET FOR AUTO RELAY | AllElectronics.com
12VDC SPDT 40A AUTOMOTIVE RELAY | AllElectronics.com
1 socket and 2 relays per side. One relay for brights and the other for normal headlights. If you use a diode pointing from brights to normal headlights on the switching side they will both turn on like was previously mentioned. Make sure you hook a fuse inline with the power going to the relays and headlamps to be safe, locate the fuse as close to the battery side as possible.
The wiring harness sold by LMC is also ok but I didn't know about it when I upgraded mine.
