2008 front wheel bearing

Hi I have a 2008 Escape and I need to replace the sealed bearing. I have all the tools and have done many similar bearing replacements. I would assume that there is a snap ring that holds it? Is there anything else that would be a surprise? Thanks, Artieb

It's the same arrangement that Ford has used on a number of FWD cars over the years. I've had the same arrangement on 1st and 2nd Gen SHOs and on my Contour.

Yes, there's a snap ring. Use the shop press to push out the old hub then bearing assembly and to push the new bearing and the new hub back in. Don't push the center of the bearing out by accident when installing the hub.

So was I although I wouldn't say I was "surprised" when I had to replace one on the Mariner. It was more like pi$$ed.... It's a PITA to replace.

I got mine done, wasn't to bad. I can't believe the rust, I have done 25 year old VW`s with less effort. I did clean, debur, antiseze, then freeze the bearing, the heat the housing to about 200* ,and used to old resized, outer bearing to tap the new bearing in. Took a while to get the wheel sender out, without damage. Thanks for the replies, Artie
