Can I swap a 1948 front axle into a 1946?

I need some quick help guys, I've searched but to no avail. I have a 1946 1/2 ton pickup I'm piecing together. My passenger spindle was left sitting for 30 years without the hub on and is pretty rusty. I have a line on a 1948-mid fifties 1/2 Ton complete front axle assembly, wheel to wheel, for $100 that is in great shape with no rust. I don't think I can directly swap this in due to the steering being different, but can I use brake parts, backing plates, etc off of it? Also has anyone used one of these in the earlier Fords?

This may get better response in the pre 48 forum, not many here familiar with your 46.

If you still need assistance on this I can do a parts book search in a couple days when I get home.
