Anyone familiar with Clarkson Corner of the State?

I'm planning a road trip thru the area and was looking for fun roads to travel. Nothing too far off the beaten path, need to keep the forward progress going, but want to explore.

Going to pick up Hwy 129 south out of Clarkson to take me into Oregon. Google maps is showing a road, Hwy 128, heading South out of Pomeroy that looks interesting (maybe even dirt/gravel for a bit) that doesn't appear to add much time to the trip. Anyone familiar with this area and know the road?

Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Well if you hop over to ID there is the Payette National Forest and I have been told
that there are some nice hot springs if you know where to look for them.

I would have to call a A&P mechanic I went to school with to get the location.

If you want to take a break from roads it looks like Snake Dancer Excursions does a pretty kickass jet boat tour up into Hells Canyon (fun fact: North America's deepest river gorge - just a hair under 8,000 feet. Definitely on my list of things to check out someday)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. No side excursions on this trip; need to keep hauling to make my destination. Just thinking about fun roads to travel on my way to Boise.

128 is paved from Pomeroy south for about 15 miles then turns to gravel forest service roads all the way to Troy, Ore. I grew up in Pomeroy and traveled that road once, but thats how i remember it. Beautiful scenery through the Blue Mtns.
