Mud In the bottom of the Door Jambs

Has anyone found a good solution to keeping the mud from getting into the bottom of the door jambs? I have the stock mud flaps and the tubular running boards so there is noting to stop the mud from coming off of the wheels below the mud flaps and coming up into the bottom of the door jambs. A friend with the earlier solid running boards does not have this problem.
Just wondering if someone has done something about it so I don't have to re-invent the wheel here or go out and try to find the old style ones.
Thanks for any ideas here.

Short of cramming some sort of tubing between the door and body or putting a "guard" style side step etc I don't think there are any real options

I've thought of using some instant foam in the wheel wells and fender wells to keep some of the mud from gathering in the corners. I'm just worried that it will retain water and cause the area to rust faster than it would with just mud caked inside.

Maybe you could do it that way or glue some of the padding, like my boy has on the handle bars of his BMX bike, to the bottom of the door?

I've also read about new door molding kits that many FTE members have used on their doors. They swear that the doors fit better and are quitter after the new stuff is put in. If it fills the gap at the bottom of the door better it would certainly keep more mud out than the old moldings.

Not much you can do with it because of your tubular boards, I have nothing at all since my boards retract. I wash that area every time I wash the truck, also waxing door jam area every month.

Well, that just decided for me whether or not to get the electric steps. I'll pass and keep the running boards.

Even my running boards got mud on them until I got some generic mudflaps and attached them to the backs of the front wheel wells and they stick out 3" past the body (which looks a little weird) but the boards are finally clean all the time.

if the conditions are bad enough even the regular boards cover up quickly...with mud flaps!

have not noticed much if any change in dirt/mud after going to aftermarket step bars.

Instead of hijacking this thread, I'm going to start another about the electric steps.

But you don't have much if any front flaps, mine stick out 3" and I am in snow country too ( 103" a year). They stay clean now.

EX V10 if you look at the rubber and area around it on the bottom of the door it is really clean. Mine would be covered in a layer of mud, small rocks and they are wet all the time in the rainy season all around the rubber weather strip piece there on both the bottom of the door and the door frame on the vehicle. The running boards you have are doing a pretty good job as compared to the tubular ones that I have. IF I come up with something I will post it here just in case anyone is interested.
Thanks to all.

i have pretty good flaps, they dont stick out because i wanted a clean look but they do the job well. That situation above NOTHING would have kept the boards clean as it was a fine mud mist for 60 miles on a muddy road. the whole truck looked like this.

i have never had any issue in the winter as i park in a 70F garage every night so my truck is always warm and clean of any snow or ice.
