New 1975 F250 Highboy

Picked up a 75 Highboy that's rotted to hell. Got a 360 with a S-code 4bbl intake and holly 600. Dipstick pinch between exhaust manifold and head. Really really rotted. No floor or rocker on driver side and seized transfer-case linkage and column shift linkage haha. Planning on turning it into a wheeler. So far I'm trying to get it running and fabbing a floor shifter for it.

Wow. I sometimes think that people are too quick to swap cabs, but in this case, it might be time.

If anything that's a testament to how well these trucks were built, the fact the cab is still "intact" says a lot.

I assume your d/s cab mount is solid? something has to be holding the cab up.

Yea it's just where you see it gone is only spot rotted. it's a shame that the rest cab is pretty much mint. and u like most trucks the front frame is rotted so the motor never leaked much so that's a good thing.

On mine the leaking oil and winter road cinders encapsulated the metal, preserving it very well.

Great place to throw a beer can while out driving the fire breaks, oops never mind that would be $ you would be throwing away, throw it in the SD bed instead.....?

Better put some nerf bars on it, so the cab has something to fall on to. lol

Yeah she's a piece. Got it running tonight with a new "75" green grommet module and she fired right up. Timing still isn't really right but overall at least it runs and carb doesn't seem to leak. Time for shackle flip and drop brackets. I got some 37 surplus tires to put on it.

As far as the hangers go. I'm just gonna make my own or use chevy hangers and hopefully use 64" Chevy rears if I can get some cheap. All my springs now are rotted junk.

Tonight I got a b&m megashifter welded to a slanted raised box I welded up. Got the shifter for free and didn't have a consul/cover and for it so I didn't really mind welding to it. Anyhow it needs a new cable and that should let me shift my tranny, the column linkage is rusted solid

Since you are going a cable shift route, I would move it back closer to the front edge of the seat, less leaning fwd to shift.
