beautiful job... it gets me all giddy when I see nice fabrication work. The truck mags used to do some of this but sadly now just bolt on advertisers parts. I love bending metal and making stuff.
I'm like the reporter at the last election.... I get all tingly down my leg. Keep posting up the tutorials... there's lots of newbies that will love it... even some old timers like me.
john BTW are you ridin down to Crusin the Coast ?? I'm leavin in an hour or so and will be there thru Sunday... looks like a great week, weatherwise.
Very well done. I wish I knew how to cut/weld/bend/paint/do things.
It's really not that difficult. Just have to buy yourself some metal and a few tools and experiment/practice. work on one skill at a time until you have it mastered. Patience is an important virtue to have, along with desire.
Today we have the internet, videos, DVDs available, almost as good as having someone looking over your shoulder.
Latch looks great. Kinda similar to mine. I got my bumpers from McMaster-Carr. They are available in male or female thread.I just tapped the metal and screwed them in.<a href="http://s247.photobucket.com/user/Larry48fi/media/102_0701_zps8877277b.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg131/Larry48fi/102_0701_zps8877277b.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 102_0701_zps8877277b.jpg"/></a>

Hey I'm here now....just read this. Give me a call tomorrow...PM'ed you my cell.
Thanks for the info but my problem is that the lip on the hood is gone and there is nothing to bolt the latching plate to. I'm afraid that if I try to weld anything back on the hood (to replace or repair the lip) the metal will just warp. That is why I bought this new ( used) hood. Has anyone welded on the hood and did it come out OK.
You can't weld to rust or tissue thin corroded metal. If you have rust out the deteriorated metal needs to first be cut back to solid metal and replaced with new. If you post some pictures of what you have I can give you a better assessment.
