I have a '97 F250 diesel and the battery light keeps coming on and off. The volt meter shows a good charge. How do I fix this?

 

What exactly does the volt meter show when the battery light flickers?

 

The voltmeter shows 14 - 15 volts prox. The battery light will come on for up to 30 second or just flicker. Usually it jus flickers. It will be off for 30 - 60 minutes sometimes. When I turn the key on to start it, it comes on and then goes off when it starts.

 

Check for a loose or corroded connector on the alternator.

 

There are two plug ins on the alternator and the single small one was loose and corroded. I cleaned both and sprayed contact cleaner on and the problem is fixed. Thank you again. Now I wonder if I am going to miss the flashing battery when I am driving, hmmm.....
