Very few did, but if they were ordered with a D60 front it was a low pinion D60, not the later (78/79) high pinion D60.

Ok thanks. How can I tell if it is a 60 this truck has a '78 front end but I though '77 was the last year for the highboy? It had a divorced transfer case and it sits pretty high so I pretty sure it's a highboy. Did 60s have auto hubs ever

'77 is the last year for the highboy, as well as the low pinion axles, both D44HD and D60...
If the hubs look like these it's the earlier low pinion axle...

No this truck does not have manual hubs it has a dombed end. It's leaf sprung with a differential so before you ask me yes it's a 4x4 haha

IT is called full time 4wd, not auto hubs.
I don't know if full time was an option in 77 and earlier, always thought 78 was the first year for that.
Look like these?

So it's full-time 4x4, gotcha.
Throw a wrench on the diff cover bolts...
D60 will be 9/16"
D44 will be 1/2"

Ok. it has a shifter for the transfer case, is that still called full time. Were they DANA 60s that where full time, if not are they still worth anything?? Did trucks still get divorced transfer cases in '78 or did someone put that in?

Yes the full time still had a shifter handle, yes they used full time on the D60's and yes if it is a true 78-79 D60 they sell on average for around 1K.
No divorced T-case in 78.

Yes. The only way you are going to know the real identity of the axle is to go back there and check the cover bolts or the hub dimensions.
A D44 will be about 3 1/2" and a D60 will be a shade over 4".
Montana should be able to tell you whether or not full time was available on a pre 77 model.

Highboys were available with both part-time and full-time 4x4...
After nearly four decades any axle could be under that truck...
You'll need to check it out to be certain, a 78/79 D60 would be a steal for scrap price.
