Exhaust Manifold Installation Question

The shop manual says to put a light amount of graphite grease on the manifold surfaces. The question is what grease to use or is it really needed at all? I see a lithium base grease with graphite at the local auto parts store but I'd appreciate some direction. Here is a pic of the engine cleaned up. Intake and exhaust manifolds are just temporarily installed. My plan is to have it back on the frame this weekend. Thanks in advance for your help.

argh, read the shop manual a bit closer and these engines did not use exhaust manifold gaskets...thus the light coating of graphite grease (learn something new every day). As the engine had gaskets when I removed the manifolds I'll be installing them back on with them just to be sure.

Something the PO came up with. I just improved it by using SS bolts and replacing stacks of washers with spacers.
