1992 4.9 F150, what EEC-IVs will work

Hey everyone, here's a little back story on the truck. I drove it to the gas station to fill it up, went to start it and it wouldn't start. Turned key to the "ON" position and the fuel pump didn't turn on for a few seconds like it normally would. I tried switching to the second tank (dual tanks) and no luck. Had my girlfriends dad pull me home, so next I checked spark, and no spark. I pulled the ECM out and wala, it was burnt pretty bad in one spot. This EEC-IV is a F2TF-ASA. I know the F2TF-ASBs will work, but those of those ECMs are about $190 + core, which happens to be the most expensive. Are there any others that will work? What is the difference in all the different Ford ECMs? The truck is a 4.9L 5 speed. I see about 4 other part numbers that are all cheaper that are for 4.9L 5 Speeds. I only drive this truck less than 1000 miles per year, I just need something that will work.

I have the same PCM as you. T2DQ I believe was the top #. F2TF-ASB was the prefix/suffix.
The most expensive PCM out of like 13 different ones...and I had to have it. $273 was my cost with core. Without was $340.

I can't understand WHY I had to have that one when cheaper ones were availiable with Federal emissions, 5-spd, 4 wheel drive. But that was what the Calibration sticker matched to.

Maybe if this one dies, and someone has swapped a different one in that worked just as well and was CHEAPER than this one , I will sure do it. I'm very interested if someone has done this with no ill-effects. Please share with all of us.

I'm tempted to try it. Napa has the F2TF-ARB which are also Fed, 5 spd, 4.9L ECMs for around $99 without a core. They say 91-93 trucks while the ASA/ASBs say 92-93. Although it does not distinguish 2wd or 4wd. But in my experience with other vehicles the ECM in manual transmission vehicles didn't have anything to do with driveline configuration. I'm sure they'll take it back if for some reason it doesn't work and I'll just suck it up and pay more money.
