The needles on my gauges are very sunfaded and I would like to take them off and paint the backside orange to freshen them up. How do I remove the needle from the gauge? Does it unscrew? Or do you just pull it straight off? I don't want to damage anything.

 

I'm not 100% on the 87-91 clusters, but on my 92 I put a fork under the needle, a folded paper towel between the prongs and the gauge face and pryed up. Just take your time.
