Question 5.4 3v timing chain tensioner swap

I have an 07 f150 with a 5.4 3v with 165k miles. Going to be replacing the timing chains, tensioners , and guides soon. I know the 07 has o-ring sealed tensioners, but can I use an 04 and earlier steel backed tensioner when I do the job? Cloyes makes a "high perf" model available from summit, but only says up to 04.

I have rear of other techs using the old style (non-gasket) tensioners without issue, but I've not seen it in person.

Did you ever use the iron tensioners?
