Pics of 35 Gallon fuel tank
So I have been wrestling with my Fuel Selector Valve and for the price of a new valve I am thinking about upgrading the tank in my '88 E250 7.3 IDI to make it a 1 tank system. I know the 1992+ E250 and E350 stripped chassis had a stock 35 gallon mid-mount tank. Would anyone be willing to post some pics of this set up. Namely the strap mounting, fuel line routing, filler hose set up and tank location?
Yeah, I know I'm asking allot. Thanks

Hate to leave ya twisin' in the wind man but it seems no one here has dealt with this as an issue before.
You might find the appropriate diesel forum here, ask the same question and see if there's any commonality between the van and pick up chassis in this regard.
Not sure this helps but maybe?

FORD's '92 & '93 specs list 22 gal, then 23 gal as standard, & 35 gal optional for E150, E250 & E350 vans. The "stock 35 gallon mid-mount tank" became standard for Econoline van/wagon.
FORD's '92 & '93 specs list Econoline Cutaway Chassis as having 36 gal standard, then 37 gal & 55 gal optional w/158" wb.

All recent year tanks have been 35 gallons; my '02 E150 has a 35 gallon tank and a really long range. Here is an exploded drawing of a normal '06 gasoline van tank; I would assume the fuel pump and likely the hoses would differ for a diesel, but I would assume the filler, straps, etc. would be the same. Tank is on the left, with exhaust on the right--is your exhaust system on the right?

Good luck,

interested in your results... as of right now my front tank gauge is messed up, constantly reading super full and for some reason doesn't allow me to fill it up. Also the rear tank seems to have some issues as well so my plan at this point is just to replace the whole system because it seems to have A LOT of problems.

Not 100% sure on your system, but on mine if the gauge is reading past full the whole time it would mean that the sender circuit is grounded out. If you unplug the wiring from the tank does the gauge move? What is the issue with the rear tank? Is the front tank actually full when you try and fill it?
I havnt started digging into the issue just yet because I've been messing around with the transmission but I will look at those suggestions and see what happens. The front tank is been empty for some time and it's weird but every time I try to fill it it acts like it's full and gas will spill out.
The only issue with the rear tank is sometimes when I start the vehicle it'll die so it seems as though the lines run dry or something like that. Maybe a sending unit issue?

As far as the rear tank, I am assuming it has an in tank fuel pump. Can you hear it prime when you turn the key to the on position? After you prime it do you have fuel at the engine? Does it hold the pressure or bleed off quickly?
I am not overly familiar with the gas set up, but I know on my '94 Taurus if it bleeds off fast it means that the check valve in the fuel pump is bad.
