Yeah, I think you're right. I can have an adjustable pressure valve to just set it where I want it just so long as I have the ability to make that much pressure.

Got a 5 gallon air tank and a 12 volt compressor today. The compressor will take the tank to 100 PSI in 4 minutes. Goes from there to 125 PSI in about another 1:15.

Still sourcing the air hose and other fittings that I'll need.

Where did you get the rank and compressor?

The tank is just a cheap Harbor Freight unit. Like $23 on sale. The compressor was just from a local auto parts store. It was $60, capable of 150 PSI, and draws as much as 30 amps (many I saw other places were 10-15 amp and I was afraid they wouldn't be very powerful). VERY impressed with this little compressor so far. I was surprised how quickly it'll pump up that tank for a little 12v unit.

That's pretty impressive! Are you going to hardwire it to a relay or something and have a toggle switch on it for power on/off?

Planning to run a relay so that it only can have power when the ignition is on. Then I'll put in a pressure switch that cuts on below 90 PSI and cuts back off once it reaches 120 PSI. Already have a 40 amp relay for power.

Thought about running a toggle switch, but then I'd also want an air pressure gauge in the cab so I know when to cut it off. Don't really want to put more gauges in the cab though. Already have aftermarket tach, temp, oil pressure, voltmeter, and planning to put in a trans temp gauge. Running out of room...

Maybe I'll record a short video of the system when I get it hooked up. That way you can get a better look at what I'm doing.

Wow! I tried these at 150, but they seem to reach about their max loudness around 120-130.

If it were my install I'd have a separate switch for the air compressor. This would enable you to choose it or not. In other words there will be times you don't want that to kick in. You might leave it enabled 90% of the time in normal use but when you don't want it you'd have a switch. Could be something as simple as a switch under the hood if you are out of dash space.

That's a good idea. I might just put a switch under the hood. Thanks!
