Can anyone help troubleshooting a no start issue

So I finally got my 84 running. Its not roadworthy yet but it does (did ) fire up. I was using a push button starter outside the vehicle and by accident, left the key in the on position overnight with the battery on the charger. Thinking maybe I roasted the ignition module I took it down to get tested. The guy took one look at the backside and told me it was hosed.I bought another plugged it in and it still won't start. I've primed the carb, held it WOT and all it does is crank.

What else might I have burned up by leaving the key on overnight? Where else do I look as I troubleshoot? Fords are foreign to me so I'd appreciate all the help I can get.

If you left the key turned at most you should only be left with a dead battery.

What's the best and easiest way to check for spark at the spark plugs without any special tools?

Wonder if I may have just got the plugs soaked with fuel when I primed the carb...

He would not have a dead battery as he stated in the first post it was on a battery charger.

To check if there is spark at the plugs, disconnect one of the plug wires, and lay it near a piece of metal on the engine. Crank the engine and you should see a spark arc to the metal. (if the metal tip of the wire is close enough to the metal)

I meant that as the usual result of leaving the key on the ON position overnight Jim.

The easiest way to check for fire at the plug wires using no special tools is to remove the plug wire and stick a screwdriver into the boot, making sure to make contact with the clamp that hooks onto the spark plug. Then just hold on to the metal of the screwdriver while a friend turns the ignition on and tries to start the truck. Believe me if it is firing you will know it.

On a serious side, you can pull a plug wire and stick a screwdriver in the boot. Hold close to the block and have someone turn it over. You should get a healthy spark jumping across to the block from the screwdriver. Just dont touch anything metal while doing it or it will knock the sheeite out of you.
