I have a flathead 8 - so this is what I had to do. If you have a straight 6 - I do not know if this applies:

I'm assuming you mean the (2) back by the transmission... if so, there are (2) bolts buried up a little that actually face 'down' instead of 'up' like the other ones. I had my trans off and the engine was on the stand and it took a little finesse to get it off - but then the pan dropped right out. Mine were COVERED in gunk so I had to scrap out all of the crap before I can get a socket into it...

Hope it helps....

Yes - they are in there. Like I mentioned - I had to dig and clean a bunch of crud out of the way before I found them - and this is with the engine out and on a stand so I do not know how easy it will be for you with the engine still in....

I think the two bolts (holes) referred to above are shown in this pic at the top (bottom of pan). But they go in horizontally, not vertically, so maybe not. This is from a 6 cyl pan.

I don't know of any bolts that aren't just facing down on the V8. The two straddling the rear main are tough to see but easy to get with a long extension. Many have had the dust shield thrown away (highlighted below); if not, the dust shield bolts serve that function.

Ha! You are correct sir... now that I am looking at your diagram I do remember these bolts but I could not find them as well until I cleaned the heck out of the area....

Thanks for posting this!

To get those at the rear main, especially the one near the oil pump bulge in the pan, you put a 1/2" socket on the end of a long extension, and slide it in from the side.
