Ford toy truck find
Its been a while since I posted, busy with life and my truck is in storage. Anyway I also collect old tube and other types of radios. I thought some of you would get a kick of this radio I got at a swap meet. It is in almost perfect condition. On one side it says 100 and the other has 250 . The camper has a am radio built in. From info I have been told and I have no verification these were sold in dealerships in the 60s. I was at a radio swap meet and this fellow had it. I looked at it and put it down a few times. But since I had a 66 similar to it I couldn't let it pass. It was pricey but I didn't find anything else I wanted as much so I picked it up.

Other side view
It looks like it was bought and put up on a shelf. If anyone knows more info I would live to hear about them.

No Ford Dealer that I'm aware of, sold toy cars or trucks of any kind, with or without radios.
1965/88: I bought out over 300 west coast FoMoCo Dealers stocks of obsolete parts, found promo models, shadow box awards, Ford ceramic dog banks, plaques, trophys and other sales awards, but nothing like this particular truck.
A similar pickup without the camper came with U-Haul markings, these were given to all the U-Haul dealers. A former U-Haul dealer in West LA has one on display and the U-Haul Econoline pickup version.
I've collected toy cars/trucks for years, have quite a few reference books. The pickup was made by Nylint, the Econoline by Tonka.
Other makers of large scale toy cars/trucks included Buddy L, Hubley, Keystone, Marx, Smitty (Smith-Miller) & Structo.
AMT produced promo models based on their 1/24 scale model kits. Dealers received dozens of different models/colors every year that were given away to customers who bought new cars/trucks.
The "Slick" promo and the model kit began as a 1961 Uni, but was used thru 1966. On the promos, to "differentiate one year from another," the license plates reflected the year.

Produced by Nylint Toys. They also produced a 60 so they all ready had a bed tooled up and put it on the 65 twin i beam toys.
Yours in all likely hood was restored.
There is also a 65 1/18 scale out there by Sunstar.
An the only 64 i have ever found is a ideal slot car introduced in 1964.

This 6th phase, “Ford Motor Company Era,” (Phase 6: 1959–1974) began around 1959 and peaked about 1965 when Ford toys dominated the Nylint product line. This era lasted throughout the 1960s into the early-1970s. By 1962, Nylint was producing Ford toy replicas for Ford dealership promotions.
Some of these Ford toys were exclusives for the Ford dealers such as a Nylint pickup replica of a camper that housed a Philco AM radio, and was offered as an enticement to bring parents into the dealership for a test-drive.

Looks anywhere from $100 - $200.

Collecting Toy Cars & Trucks / by Richard O'Brien / krause.com / ISBN: 0-89689-128-3
Page 455 shows a Nylint U-Haul truck (Nylint #8411), the cab is similar (pic is blurry) to the radio truck, but there's no pickup bed as the U-Haul box van body is mounted to the frame rails.
The Ford Dealers I worked for (8) over 35 years and all the dealers I visited (well over 400 in the US/Canada), I've never seen any trucks like this. I've seen and bought AMT promo models, shadow box sales awards from dealers, but that's it.
The only places I've bought Nylint and etc trucks/cars, was from toy & antique stores, car swap meets, yard sales, ebay.
McLeod Ford in Riverdale CA had their showroom walls decorated with dozens of shadow box sales awards. These were gold plated AMT promo models placed in shadow boxes.
I stopped by several times in the '70's, once in the '80's. Received the same answer every time I asked: NOT FOR SALE. The dealership went out of business in 2010.

Right, they saved some money on tooling costs, and the result is a vehicle that never existed. Twin I beam with older style bed? The body style would only be correct for a F 350 pickup, ( it appears to be the long 9' bed). The original '60 was a straight axle F 350. But what kid would know this?
